Tackle Football

Program Overview

Our Tackle Football Program is designed to teach athletes the fundamentals of tackle football in a structured, competitive, and safety-first environment. Following Utah Youth Football Conference rules and guidelines, the program emphasizes proper technique, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. This program supports players of all experience levels—from first-time tackle athletes to those preparing for high school football—while prioritizing team development and long-term success.

Grade Divisions

Teams are organized according to Grade. It is not recommended, nor will the board approve, players to play up or down a grade unless there are extenuating circumstances.  Please contact the registrar or board president if you have more questions about this.

Final team placement is determined by try-outs and number of registrations.

X-man Weights

There are maximum weight limits for a player to carry the ball on offense, meaning if they are this weight or more, they cannot play quarterback, running back, or receiver.  Those weights are listed below:

1/2 grade: 75 pounds

3rd grade: 85 pounds

4th grade: 95 pounds

5th grade: 105 pounds

6th grade: 120 pounds

7th grade: 135 pounds

8th grade: 165 pounds

9th grade: No weight limit - high school rules

Coaching & Volunteers

All teams are led by certified volunteer coaches who are committed to providing a positive and instructional experience.

Coaching requirements include:

  • Background checks
  • Completion of required Coaching certifications and trainings
  • Compliance with rules, safety protocols, and codes of conduct

Parents and guardians are encouraged to volunteer as coaches, team parents, or support staff.

Practice & Game Schedule

  • Practices: Typically held 3 times per week once the season starts, with a potential film session OR walk through (not both)
  • Games: Grades 4 & 8 will have some teams that play during the week, typically Tuesday or Wednesday nights.  All other grades will play on Saturdays.

Practice schedules, locations, and game calendars will be shared once teams are formed. Adjustments may occur due to weather, field availability, or league coordination.
